Given,

√x +√y=6.   ,.    xy=4

=> (√x+√y)^2=6^2. (SBS)

=> x+y+2√xy=36

=> x+y+4=36   ( Given, xy=4)

=> x+y=36-4

=> x+y=32

So, the answer is option (3) i.e,32
